VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)

Description
Telephone service via an adapter connected to your Internet connection and regular telephone plugs into adapter.
(Computer does not have to be left on for VOIP to work.)
Advantages
- Much less expensive than Land line or even cell phone ($27.50/mo - unlimited calling)
- Very low rates for International calling
- Can use current telephone number (in most areas)
- Typically able to try it for a month with no contract
Disadvantages
- Will not work if Internet service is out
- Some degradation if heavy load on Internet line (primarily in rural areas)
- Will not work if power goes out unless on UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
VOIP Features: Feature Codes

- Voicemail (can be disabled to be Answering Machine compatible)

Costs
VOIP service - $27.50 (monthly) (no tax except for WI residents)
- VOIP standard '214' number is a local number.
- VOIP number is not listed in phone book without yearly fee (see below)
Initial Setup Costs
VOIP unit - $64.95 + tax (one-time payment)
Port Existing Number - $20.00 one-time fee for each ported number.
Phonebook Listing - Number listed in the phone book (one-time fee of $15.00)
Additional Information
- Customer has option to keep '265' phone number.
* (See fee above for porting existing number)
* Must provide copy of most recent phone bill to Fast-Air and sign authorization
* Current provider (ex. AT&T) takes about 1 to 2 weeks to
port current phone number over.
* Customer uses temporary VOIP phone number while their phone company
ports over their '265' number.
* This means that customer will have overlap in charges for one month until process
is complete.
If for some reason, a customer decides to cancel VOIP service, they must first contact their previous phone company to do the switch-over or they will lose their '265' number.
