This past December there was a security flaw discovered with Netgear routers. A firmware update is required to patch the flaw.
Netgear router users should be aware that certain Netgear devices collect so-called “analytic” data, which could be used to penetrate user networks or violate user privacy. The Netgear Knowledge Base is vague and non-specific and does not mention whether this data is transmitted securely with encryption.
Users should configure the router to disable this feature.
