Recently a keylogger was found to exist in many HP laptop audio drivers. The key logger records key strokes to an unencrypted log file. The log file can be found at C:\Users\Public\MicTray.log. The log file can be deleted. The keylogger likely is a debugging tool only and not malicious, inadvertently left in the drivers after testing. Any HP laptop with the files C:\Windows\System32\MicTray64.exe or C:\Windows\System32\MicTray64.exe likely are vulnerable. An update is required to remove the keylogger.
